Student Kit & Studio Access

All students will receive a complete kit with everything needed to get started, including a high-quality tattoo machine. In addition to the machine, students will receive our staff’s most recommended products, from pigments to cartridges and everything in between.

Students will also have full access to all of our preferred tools while working in the studio. This allows them to familiarize themselves with our recommended products, service setup, and professional workflow.

Comprehensive Training Manual

Over the last five years, we have developed in-depth training manuals covering everything needed to start a career in the cosmetic and fine line tattooing industry.

Unlike other trainings, our proprietary manuals have been fully vetted and professionally published. This education is exclusive to our students and not available for purchase.

All introductory classes are four days long (Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday). We also offer in-depth masterclasses ranging from one to two days for established artists looking to refine their technique.

Classes run from 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 11:00 AM – 5:30 PM each day and include a 35-minute lunch break.

All trainings are hands-on with live demonstrations and models. This is a performance-based training, and students who refuse to work on live models will not receive a certificate of completion.

Students must provide proof of First Aid, CPR and Blood Born Pathogen certifications before attending class. Certification is not offered by Salt & Light.

Introductory training requires an additional four days of shadowing after completing the initial class. This apprenticeship-style education allows mentors to ensure students are progressing in their skills before certification. Shadow days must be completed within six months of training.

Introductory Training Schedule

Day 1 – Review the manual, familiarize yourself with the machine and supplies, Q&A

Day 2 – Hands-on practice with latex skin, practice stenciling/mapping, demonstration model arrives for students to observe the service (cosmetic students only), Procreate design lessons (fine line students only)

Day 3 – Review practice skin, appointment setup demonstration, students observe mentor performing service on a model, review the day and any questions

Day 4 – Student sets up service area and prepares for their model, student performs service on a model under mentor guidance, review the day and any questions

Masterclass Schedule

Our masterclasses are available to industry professionals with a minimum of one year of experience. These classes are customized to meet each individual’s needs and address specific concerns.

Cosmetic and Fine Line Tattoo Training
$500 deposit + $2,900 due at class

• All deposits are nonrefundable, separate from tuition and required to reserve your class.

• Students are allowed one class reschedule without losing their deposit. A new deposit will be required for any additional reschedules.

• Students must provide at least 72 hours’ notice prior to the scheduled training to cancel or reschedule. Additional fees may apply for late notice.

• All students must shadow their mentor for four additional days following their training to receive a certificate of completion.

• Students training in cosmetic services only are eligible for discounts on future courses.

Masterclass Tuition and Deposit

1-Day Masterclass (demo model ONLY)
$200 deposit + $1,100 due at class

2-Day Masterclass (demo model AND student model)
$200 deposit + $1,800 due at class

• Advanced lessons are for licensed artists only with a minimum of one year of experience.

• Students will receive a kit of high-quality, full-size products highly recommended by our artists.
